" I really do feel like you are walking on holy ground. As soon as you enter the gate such a piece and calmness comes over me. Beautiful chapel, facilities. I have gone on several retreats & the accommodations are great. The food is delicious. Cafeteria ladies and all the other staff are very friendly and inviting. The grounds or kept immaculate. It’s an oasis in the middle of a busy world. I wish I could go there more often. " – Corinne Duplessis
"In 1961, my birth mother was living at St. Vincent’s Maternity Home in New Orleans awaiting my arrival and subsequent release for adoption. One of the nuns at St. Vincent’s offered her a quiet stay at the Cenacle as a respite from the difficult time she was having as she bore that burden alone.
55 years later, after we had been reunited, she told me that story as I was about to attend a retreat there. That retreat had an extra-special quality, knowing I had been there with her so many years ago, shortly before my birth. I imagined her walking the beautiful grounds and praying in the chapel.
Each time I have attended a retreat at the Cenacle on the Lake, I am reminded of the special care given to my birth mother by the Cenacle Sisters back then, and to me by the staff of this very special place. Over the span of 62 years, it has brought us both closer to God and each other." – Alison Guerra
